BIRR Vintage Week & Arts Festival runs from July 29 to August 7 and as part of the festival there is a series of visual arts workshops with something for everyone.

Here’s just a preview of what’s on offer.

art wall workshop

The Courthouse Yard, Monday August 1 & Thursday August 4, 11am-1pm.

Come join our visiting collage artists and participate in the creation of the art wall. All materials are provided but bring your own images to include! Suitable for all ages.

Migration Collage Workshop

The courtyard of the courthouse, Monday August 1 and Wednesday August 3

Related to the theme of migration for the International Collage Exhibition, Marta Janik and Anthony D. Kelly will guide you in creating your own responses. All materials are provided, but you may bring your own images.

Bargello workshop

Tuesday August 2, Masonic Hall

Vintage Week artist Laura Angell will introduce you to the Bargello tapestry loom; a simple stitch that is repeated over and over again to form a distinctive, brightly colored pattern.

One Million Stars – A story of light, hope and solidarity

Birr Library, Tuesday 2pm-4pm; Wednesday 5.30-7.30 p.m.; Thursday 11am-1pm.

Supported by Birr Creatives.

Join Louise from the Offaly Local Development Company to learn this star weaving craft in a colorful workshop in Birr Library. All of the woven stars will be included in an installation which will be on display at Birr Library in August, before touring the county to other locations.
