The Mediterranean Agency for Sustainable Cities and Territories (AVITEM), which implements urban and regional cooperation in the Mediterranean and brings together institutions and bodies such as the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Europe, the Municipality of Marseille and the The Euroméditerranée Public Planning Agency, is in Izmir, hosted by the Metropolitan Municipality of Izmir.
