The Alhambra Civic Center Library is teaming up with local partners to host a series of workshops to help cyclists ride smart bikes!

These educational and fun events for the whole family will take place at local Alhambra parks and the library. Registration is not compulsory; all ages are welcome.

“The bike has so many advantages. It’s fun, it keeps us healthy and helps reduce our carbon footprint,” said Mayor Jeff Maloney. “These workshops will help people feel more confident about jumping on their two wheels, while providing them with safety tips for sharing the road with motorists.

In April and May, Cub House in San Marino will present six bike repair workshops for beginners and advanced. Bringing your own bike is recommended, but optional. In these hands-on sessions for all ages, you will learn to:

  • Fix a flat tire
  • lubricate a bicycle chain
  • adjust seat height
  • check the brakes
  • correctly wear bicycle safety equipment

Maintenance and repair of bicycles for beginners

  • Saturday, April 9, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Granada Park, 2000 W. Hellman Avenue (near the playground).
  • saturday april 16, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Almansor Park, 800 S. Almansor Street.
  • Saturday April 23, 10:00 a.m. – 1:30 p.m., Alhambra Park, 500 N. Palm Avenue (next to Bandstand). This special Día Del Niño celebration will include a bilingual music concert, story time, crafts, book giveaways and a sweet treat (while supplies last).
  • Sunday, April 24, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Alhambra Library, 101 S. First Street.

Maintenance and repair of bicycles for experienced cyclists

  • Saturday April 30, 10 a.m. – 1 p.m., Emery Park, 2709 Mimosa Street.
  • Saturday, May 14, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., Alhambra Park, 500 N. Palm Avenue (near the playground). The Alhambra Police Department will distribute helmets for children during this event (supplies limited, child must be present).
