Take part in the “It’s a Spring Thing” art workshops on Saturday | Local News

The Franklin County Arts Guild invites the community to its Spring Thing Art Mini-Workshops taking place Saturday in the garden of the Artisan Depot in Cowan.
Artists will guide participants in creating a unique work of art with all supplies and materials provided. Each participant will take home their own distinctive work of art.
Tailoring workshops are only $5 each and last one hour each. Each mini-workshop will be offered four times during the day (10am-11am; 11am-12pm; 1pm-2pm; and 2pm-3pm), allowing participants to follow as many workshops as they wish.
The four workshops offered will teach participants how to build a small panel book, a Japanese triangle bag, gel-printed note cards and bookmarks, and a decorative mini hat or flowerpot birdhouse.
No registration is required to attend. In case of bad weather, workshops will take place inside.
The Artisan Depot and Gift Shop, operated by the Franklin County Arts Guild, is located at 204 Cumberland Street in Cowan. Their mission is to promote the visual and performing arts in Franklin by providing member artists with the opportunity to exhibit and sell their work through its gallery.
Events include workshops, community art exhibits, veteran exhibits, student art gallery, Thursday night jam, art Wednesdays, fundraisers and more.
The Guild particularly supports emerging artists. Each year, the Guild awards a $1,000 scholarship to one or more high school graduates interested in pursuing the arts at the college level.
Guild members are all volunteers who contribute their talents to create an environment where artists can learn, grow and thrive. Guild meetings are held at the Artisan Depot with dates announced quarterly.
