Standlee Equine Veterinary Nutrition Seminar
Standlee is pleased to announce the first annual Feed the Need Seminar: Standlee Equine Veterinary Nutrition Seminar. Available virtually on demand, participants will be able to participate in the seminar from December 5, 2022 to January 31, 2023.
Feed the Need will provide veterinarians, veterinary technicians and veterinary students with additional knowledge and resources to use nutrition as part of an equine diagnosis and management plan. We will offer recorded presentations focusing on prevention, management and treatment through nutrition for the equine companion through to the elite athlete. A frequently asked questions and discussion forum will complement the recordings. There will also be downloadable resources to support you, your clinic and your clients.
About Standlee’s First Annual Equine Veterinary Nutrition Seminar
This year’s featured topics will be feeding challenges for the obese horse and pony. It will also focus on the nutritional management of the competitive equine athlete. Presentations are RACE approved by the AASVB for 1 CE credit per presentation, 2 credits total.
Attendees can register for the event at eventory.cc/event/feed-the-need or contact [email protected] for more information.
The keynote speaker for Standlee’s first annual Equine Veterinary Nutrition Seminar will be Dr. Stephen Duren, PhD, MS, PAS. Dr. Duren received his Bachelor of Science in Animal Science from the University of Idaho. He earned a Master of Science and Doctor of Philosophy degree in Equine Nutrition and Exercise Physiology from the University of Kentucky. His research focused on the fat feeding of racehorses. He also looked at changes in blood flow distribution in fed and fasted horses during exercise. Duren has now formed Performance Horse Nutrition, LLC, where he consults with feed manufacturers and horse owners around the world. Duren has owned horses all his life and truly understands the connection between nutrition and performance. He has owned competition horses and understands the investment of time and training. Therefore, he realizes that feeding should be a factor that helps the horse and not limits it.
