The award-winning social enterprise Pivot organizes a series of jewelery making workshops in locations across London, led by trained designers who have lived the experience of homelessness.
Pivot is hosting a series of Mother’s Day jewelry making workshops scheduled for March and a kid-friendly workshop scheduled for April. Tickets and vouchers, which start at £35 for adults and £15 for children, are available to purchase from Pivot’s website.

Topics covered during their range of workshops include: how to make durable acetate earrings and eyeglass chains; and how to make your own silver ring using traditional silversmithing techniques.

Customers will be able to get their hands on a curated selection of pieces sold at each workshop with a 20% discount offered to all.

Founded in November 2019 by Alice Moxley, Pivot teaches homeless people how to design, make and sell jewelry, while offering them guidance and financial support. All training sessions are delivered in homeless shelters, providing direct support to those who may have difficulty accessing them.

Pivot Awards for Jewelry Design and Efforts to Address Homelessness:

The social enterprise has received numerous accolades for its jewelry design and work to help end homelessness.

In October, Pivot won Westfield London’s ‘fashion of the future’ in the jewelry category of the competition for her eco-friendly capsule collection titled “Creating and Sustaining Opportunity”. The competition was judged by the Royal College of Art, John Lewis & Partners, Save Your Wardrobe, Emily Carter London and Love not Landfill.

Comments from the Pivot team and makers:

“Our workshops offer craft enthusiasts a chance to not only create their own beautiful jewelry, but also a chance to learn from our Master Maker Jason.

Jason was part of our first cohort of Makers delivered to a North London hostel in 2019 and over the years has honed his craft as an excellent teacher.

All sales from these workshops go towards continuing our support of inspiring people like Jason, by funding our training programs and providing employment opportunities,” said Pivot founder Alice Moxley.“Mental health in these places [hostels] crazy. The longer you stay there, the less likely you are to get these work opportunities. But through its programs, Pivot offers people living in hostels a chance to build their confidence and skills, so they can work to find housing and employment. All profits generated from our workshops will go towards running our next training program and supporting our growing team, which hires directly from the pool of program graduates. As someone who has gone through the program, I know what a lifesaver it has been for me,” said Jason, workshop and program manager and program graduate.
