Seminar for Women Business Owners Held at Both Mississippi Museums

JACKSON, Miss (WJTV) — As April is Financial Awareness Month, the Enterprising Women of Color program with the Minority Business Development Agency and Women’s Enterprise hosted an educational seminar on Wednesday, April 27 at both museums. from Mississippi.
The luncheon focused on helping women of color achieve and promote financial empowerment and business practices for aspiring women business owners. Participants were able to access resources such as financial services, skills development and market information.
The event organizers wanted to raise awareness for women of color in business to have better access to resources to carry out their current and future businesses.
Attendees were able to not only get in-depth information on how to grow their business, but also get one-on-one advice from guest speakers: Dana James Mwangi, branding and website consultant from Memphis, Tennessee, and Myla Reese Poree, financial consultant and coach from New Orleans, Louisiana.
“When I was asked to be a part of this, I was excited,” Poree said. “Everyone was so interactive, and any time I’m able to bring back insights on how to financially advance a business, I’m all for it.”
“I love when I talk to women and see the bulbs go on and see the shoulders relax,” Mwangi said. “I live to see the interaction of women who are like, ‘I can do this!'”
Attendees were able to network with other business owners and enroll in free mentorship programs.
The organizers believe that this event will change the lives of women who want to achieve more growth through their business. They look forward to hosting this event again in Jackson.
