Gudbrandsal style rosemary: Oct. 15, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.; instructor Clarice Dieter; beginner and over, minimum age 15 years old; painting a round box in the Gudbrandsal style; tuition $55, box information and supply list at registration, advance purchases required; registration deadline September 24.
Wooden bowl turning: Oct. 22-23, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; instructor Steve Mullins; beginner and over, minimum age 16; learn the basic skills needed to turn a wooden bowl on a lathe from unseasoned “green” wood; tuition $230, supplies $45; registration deadline 8 October.
Carpet weaving: From November 4 to 6, from Friday evening to Sunday; instructor Diana Soehren; learn the basics of fabric preparation, choose a pattern, warp and start weaving on Friday; keep working on their projects on Saturday and Sunday; members who have taken this workshop have access to the Loom Room to work on their own projects; tuition $90, supplies $10 or more; registration deadline October 22.
Picture framing: fall dates TBD, Friday 6-9pm, Saturday 9am-4pm, Instructor Brian Wolf returns from Germany twice a year to teach this course, beginners, minimum age 16; members who have taken this workshop have access to the Framing Studio to work on their own projects; tuition $105.
Open sculpture evening: sculptors of all persuasions are invited to meet from 6:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. on the first Tuesday of each month at the school to sculpt and network. Free.
Silver Workshop: open to anyone who has started goldsmithing and is a member of MVAS. Fees are $10 for the evening and $20 for the whole day.
Weaving workshop: open to those who have experience with looms or who have completed the carpet weaving course and who are members of the MVAS; by appointment or join a weaving group, free of charge; the looms are serviced with warp free of charge.
Framing workshop: a fully functional scoping workshop open to those who have completed the scoping workshop and are members of the MVAS; $5 per hour, $10 half day, $20 full day; by appointment only.
