NWIHS Hosts Seminar to Signify Importance of Physical Therapy
PESHAWAR, (UrduPoint/Pakistan Point News – September 9, 2022): World Physiotherapy Day was observed at the North West Institute of Health Sciences (NWIHS) here the other day where students, faculty and physiotherapists attended the event.
The NWIHS College of Physiotherapy has organized a series of events in this regard, including a seminar, an awareness walk, and a free medical camp to raise awareness and educate about the importance of physiotherapy in the healthcare system.
Afsar Khan, Director of Operations NWIHS welcomed the guests and participants and appreciated the efforts made by members of the Academic Committee, including Dr. Subhan ur Rehman Burki, Dr. Uzair Ahmad, Dr. Faizan Ur Rehman and Dr. Obaida Arzoo for organizing such a gregarious event. He affirmed all possible support to the faculty and the institution in the fields of social, practical and research activities.
Dr. Danish Ali Khan, Director of NWIHS Medical Education, Dr. Subhan-Ur-Rehman HoD, Physiotherapy, and Dr. Uzair Ahmad, made their presentations highlighting the role, importance, future directions, history and assessment pathway of physiotherapy in health education. They mentioned that physiotherapy has a key role in medical education, rehabilitation and disability prevention.
Furthermore, emphasizing the importance of physiotherapy in the health system, the experts urged that World Physiotherapy Day mark the unity and cohesion of the international physiotherapy community and be celebrated as an occasion to recognize the efforts physiotherapists make for their patients and community.
An awareness march also took place off campus on the ring road which was attended by faculty members and students. They displayed banners describing the importance and role of physiotherapy in the health care system.
Later, key guests including Dr. Irfan Ullah, Director, IPMR Khyber Medical University Peshawar, Dr. Mujeeb Rehman, Assistant Professor, IPMR and Mrs. Nazish A. Qadir, KMU Occupational Therapy Coordinator, inaugurated the event, followed by a model inspection – student competition and cake cutting. ceremony.
The students decorated the walls with paintings and other materials to raise awareness about physiotherapy, nutrition, diets, exercise plans and physiotherapy treatments. They carried out historical projects which were highly appreciated by all the guests. Later, a project winner was announced and awarded with a certificate and cash prize.
In addition, a free physiotherapy medical camp was organized for patients, where several patients were treated as well as free home plans and consultations.
