Music performances, workshops and pageants mark Ragam’s first day at NIT-C

Various events under the banner of Ragam, the intercollegiate cultural competition organized by the National Institute of Technology Calicut (NIT-C), began here on Saturday. Sporting events such as Fury (basketball), Strike-3 (volleyball) and Rabona (soccer) were the first to take off.

Swara Raaga, an Eastern fusion music event, saw the participation of nine college bands across Kerala and was a major draw for the crowd. Culture lovers were drawn to other events such as Bharatnatyam in addition to Western and String Solo. ‘Talking Taboo’, an open interactive session on gender, parenthood and social stigma, was well received by the audience.

Workshops on the Internet of Things, Cloud Computing and Cybersecurity were held. Snehaj Srinivas, India and GCC Manager of the International Quizing Association, led a quiz workshop while an interactive photography workshop was hosted by a popular brand. Literary events such as Debates, JAM and Spelling had good attendance.

Vinod MS, a renowned mentalist, performed as part of ‘Ragam Prodezza’, followed by a fire and LED show by artists Yakobeh and Beri. film screening, Woman with a movie camera was organized by Take One with an interactive session with director Atal Krishna.

The first day ended with a competition, “Couture Boulevard”, followed by a professional evening in the presence of celebrities such as singer Jonita Gandhi, the group When Chai Met Toast and DJ Kayan. The event also marked the exclusive release of actor and rapper Neeraj Madhav’s new single, “Po”. The second day of Ragam will feature performances by artists such as Mohit Chauhan and DJ Swartex.
