Mick Foley would have loved to do press conferences after the show
Over Labor Day weekend, WWE and AEW held post-show press conferences with very different results.
After WWE Clash at the Castle, the WWE press conference included Roman Reigns asking the media to acknowledge him before leaving, followed by Seth Rollins, Gunther, Liv Morgan and Triple H answering questions. After AEW All Out, the AEW press conference included CM Punk venting his frustrations with Colt Cabana, The Elite (Kenny Omega & The Young Bucks), and Hangman Page, which led to a backstage altercation between Punk, Ace Steel and The Elite.
Press conferences have become commonplace in AEW since the company’s inception, while WWE has attended press conferences and calls with the media, including when Triple H ran NXT, over the years.
Speaking to NBC Sports’ Steve Fall, Mick Foley was asked about holding press conferences while he was still active.
“I would have loved to have had the opportunity to speak to the media after games. I think that’s something that was missing. Of course, AEW’s latest turned out to be a bit unusual in a way that might not be good for business, but I like the idea of Roman Reigns talking to the press after a big win, I think it gives an extra touch to what we do. he said.
Foley now hosts his own podcast Foley is Pod on AdFreeShows where he discusses his career and some current wrestling topics.
