Lincoln Electric Opens Registration for 2022 Blodgett Seminar on Structural Steel Connections

The addition of more in-depth AWS D1.5 discussions in the Blodgett Structural Steel Connections seminar expands our training to cover a greater structural scope, especially in light of the infrastructure issues that are at the forefront across the country.
(Cleveland, July 7, 2022) – Lincoln Electric has added a new component to its annual lineup of Blodgett Design Seminars. Its Design of Welded Connections: Steel Structures seminar will now take a closer look at AWS D1.5 standards in addition to traditional courses. The company will host this structural seminar October 24-28, 2022 at the Welding Technology & Training Center at its Cleveland headquarters.
Lincoln Electric Blodgett Structural Steel Connections Seminar offers 36 hours of instruction over a full week of training, providing 3.6 CEUs for those who design and construct steel structures such as buildings, bridges, towers and similar structures. Typical attendees include structural engineers, fabricators, erectors and inspectors. During the sessions, participants will review connections subjected to static, cyclic and seismic loading.
“In the past, we’ve focused on the AISC 360 and AWS D1.1 standards to support various engineering principles presented in the course,” says Curt Decker, Principal Structural Engineer at Lincoln Electric, “The addition Further discussion of AWS D1.5 expands our training to cover a broader structural scope, especially in light of the infrastructure issues that are at the forefront across the country. »
Seminar courses include such things as the basics of the welding process, welding metallurgy and cracking, basics of welded connections, fracture mechanics, principles of connection design, and practical solutions to common construction challenges. , in addition to other key structural topics. Attendees will enjoy hands-on welding opportunities and demonstrations of additive and automation solutions to replenish the stock of new ideas and take tours of Lincoln Electric that showcase the latest welding technologies.
For more than 60 years, Lincoln Electric has hosted Blodgett Design Seminars that provide attendees with relevant, actionable insights on how to make welded products more reliable, less expensive, and welded safely. Thousands of engineers have attended these seminars, made popular by their namesake, Dr. Omer W. Blodgett, a retired Lincoln Electric engineer, speaker, and educator.
Blodgett, a recognized worldwide authority on the design of welded connections, was instrumental in developing standards for the American Welding Society. He is the author of two Design of welded structuresand Design of welds. These books, originally published over 55 years ago, are considered the basis for all weldment design.
“These seminars are one of a kind,” says Decker. “Lincoln Electric is the world’s welding expert with over 100 years of experience. You can’t get this depth of training with such a long history anywhere else.”
Registrations are open for October 24-28seminars. The $900 seminar fee includes seminar sessions, lunches, one evening dinner, and daily hotel shuttle. For more information, visit https://www.lincolnelectric.com/en/Education/Blodgett-Seminarsor email [email protected].
