A “GET Into Teaching” seminar is organized in a school in Odiham.

The i2i Education Partnership is an alliance of secondary schools in Hampshire, Surrey, Middlesex and Berkshire; the group offers an initial school-based teacher training program for future teachers.

The partnership is hosting a ‘Get into Teaching’ information seminar at Robert May’s School in Odiham on Wednesday 18 May.

The seminar is free to all who wish to attend and will run from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The seminar will help participants better understand the pathways to becoming a teacher, including the application process and how to gain experience; the seminar will also cover the i2i educational partnership.

A tour of the Robert May School will also take place as part of the seminar, and attendees will be able to see classroom teaching in action.

The seminar is open to all members of the public, including those in other careers, university students and graduates, and those already working in schools.

A level 6 diploma is required to train in teaching.

Krissy Taylor, Head of Recruitment and Marketing at i2i, said: “Our region is home to many great schools.

“However, there are no great schools without great teachers, and no other profession is as important to the fate of the next generation, or as rewarding as teaching.

“The COVID pandemic has, without a doubt, raised the profile and importance of our teachers, and created an opportunity for many to reflect and reassess their ‘purpose’.

“For those looking for a more rewarding career, a greater sense of duty and the opportunity to give back to the community, teaching is an attractive option.

“It offers lifelong learning, progression to leadership, daily challenges and rewards, and a tremendous sense of accomplishment.”

The partnership has a training hub at Weydon School in Farnham and, through the new partnership with Robert May’s School, is able to provide training opportunities for local teachers.

The program offered by i2i includes a one-year training, as well as additional support for trainees throughout their career.

The program is also very flexible and can be adapted to meet the needs of participants.
