FPL Gameweek 35 team news and injury updates: Thursday press briefings

We have injury updates from six Premier League managers who held pre-match press conferences on Thursday.
The head coaches of Brentford, Brighton and Hove Albion, Burnley, Leeds United, Southampton and Wanderers of Wolverhampton all faced the media ahead of their league matches this weekend.
Ralf Rangnick, meanwhile, will give his pre-Brentford briefing immediately after tonight’s clash with Chelsea, although the Gameweek 35 portion of that presser will likely be embargoed for around a day.
So that means we’ll have a total of 13 more top bosses facing reporters on Friday, after which we’ll bring you our second Squad of the Week news roundup.
This summary will likely include an update on Bukayo Saka, who was spotted in training with Arsenal today.
In the meantime, check out our ‘first team news’ roundup here for clubs not listed below.
UNITED LEEDS
Adam Forshaw (knee), Crysencio Summerville (ankle) and Tyler Robert (hamstrings) are all out for the season, while Patrick Bamford (foot) won’t return to action until next week at the earliest.
“I suspect and can probably expect him to be on the pitch next week. We have to be careful again, but we’re all optimistic for Patrick at this stage. – Jesse Marsch
BURNLEY
Ben Mee (knee), Johann Berg Gudmundsson (calf), Ashley Westwood (ankle) and Erik Pieters (knee) are all absent from the trip to Watford, while Burnley caretaker manager Mike Jackson will make a ‘late call’ on Maxwel Cornet (knee).
“We’re still expecting him a bit at the moment. He’s with the physios, so it’s probably going to be a late call for him. – Mike Jackson on Maxwel Cornet
“Erik [Pieters] Is fine, I hope he will be in training next week. Well [Mee], fingers crossed to get him back before the end of the season – that’s what we’ve been told at the moment. –Mike Jackson
Aaron Lennon (knee) broke through the pain barrier but was fit enough to be used as a substitute last weekend, while Jay Rodriguez (calf) had to be removed in the win over Wolves and will also need to be assessed.
“Jay had to have a day off when we did some work on Tuesday, so again it’s the big game load, big guy, a lot of power going through him.
“He trained today (Thursday), so he trained a bit, and we’ll see how they all come in the morning and go from there.” –Mike Jackson
BRIGHTON AND HOVE ALBION
Jakub Moder (knee) and Jeremy Sarmiento (hamstrings) will miss the wolf trip but Yves Bissouma is available after suspension and Tariq Lamptey (knee) should be back provided he suffers no adverse effects from returning to training this week.
“He trained today [Thursday], so provided there is no reaction, he will be in the group for the weekend. – Graham Potter on Tariq Lamptey
Graham Potter also pledged to ‘pick our strongest team’ when asked about the possibility of fielding fringe/young players at Molineux.
“For me, ‘picking our strongest team and trying to compete for the three points’ is the priority.” –Graham Potter
WOLVERHAMPTON TRAVELERS
Ruben Neves (knee), Max Kilman (muscular) and Daniel Podence (foot) are all set to miss Wolves’ clash with Brighton.
Neves has returned to training but is unlikely to be fit enough to face the Seagulls.
“No change. We still have Max [Kilman]Reuben [Neves] and Daniel [Podence] outside. We don’t count those guys into the game, so we’re trying to do what we have in our hands to help them recover, but I think it would be tough to have those guys in the game. But let’s see.
“[Neves] was training yesterday, today he was not training. It would be difficult after six weeks to be ready to play 90 minutes as a midfielder with the talent and quality he gives us. – Bruno Lage
SOUTHAMPTON
Tino Deliveramento (knee) is set to miss the rest of 2022 with the ACL injury he picked up in last week’s draw with Brighton, but Ralph Hasenhuttl said on Thursday there were no other known injury issues affecting Southampton.
BRENFORD
Saman Ghoddos (ankle) joined Ethan Pinnock (tendon), Sergi Canos (tendon), Zanka (muscular) and Frank Onyeka (ankle) on the sidelines but Thomas Frank confirmed on Thursday that Christian Norgard (tibia) and Kristoffer Ajer (head) should be fit for the trip to Manchester United; the former narrowly missed against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday while the latter will have served his concussion protocol in time for Gameweek 35.
