Deoghar college will hold a national seminar next month
Deoghar College, Deoghar, which happens to be a constituent unit of Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka is to organize an interdisciplinary national seminar on “The Tribes of Jharkhand and the Freedom Struggle in India” in November.
This ICSSR sponsored two-day seminar is to be held at the college premises in association with Akhil Bharatiya Rashtriya Shaikshik Mahasangh as part of Azadi ka Amrit Mahotsava celebrations.
The brochure of this seminar has been published and its official website has been launched
by Prof. (Dr.) Sonajharia Minz, the VC of Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka today, according to a press release issued by the college.
The tribes of Jharkhand, despite their immense contribution to the freedom struggle, have not received due recognition due to their socio-economic backwardness, lack of general political support and lack of written record to flourish their traditional culture, according to the statement.
The organizing committee has asked those wishing to participate in the seminar to send their text to the college before the second week of November so that it can be received accordingly.
This seminar aims to explore the untold stories and provide a common platform for a more careful and honest examination of the history of the tribal freedom struggle by eminent guest resource persons, learned scholars, and scholars. Their deliberations and presentations would provide new ground for research and enrich knowledge of Indian history, the press release said.
In addition, this seminar will also focus on sensitizing new generations to the immense contribution of tribes; the lesser known and unsung heroes of the national struggle for independence.
The seminar would help create inspiration and encouragement for the new generation and would also fill generations of Tribals with a sense of pride for their community’s part in the struggle for national freedom.
