Campbell River and Campbell River Chamber volunteers hold reconciliation workshops
Campbell River volunteers and the Campbell River and District Chamber of Commerce have planned free spring workshops focused on reconciliation.
The first session will take place on Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Zoom and will focus on how businesses and nonprofits can respond to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s 94 Calls to Action.
A series of anti-racism response trainings will also take place in line April 6, 13, 20 and 27 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m.
“These workshops provide community members, volunteers and staff from local organizations and businesses the opportunity to explore reconciliation and racism in our community,” said Mary Catherine Williams of Volunteer Campbell River in a press release. .
“The goal of this project is to better understand the past and its impact on the present, and to increase the commitment of the whole community to create a better future for all.”
A workshop on Improving Engagement with Indigenous Peoples from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. will take place at an undetermined location.
