Chandigarh (Punjab) [India]June 3 (ANI/NewsSee): Chitkara University in Punjab, in collaboration with the Punjab Pollution Control Council, today organized a seminar on “Future Lies in Environmental Protection” at Chitkara University, Punjab Campus.

The seminar saw the presence of personalities from various fields. The main guest of the event was the Honorable Justice Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel, President of the National Green Tribunal.

The seminar also saw the gracious presence of dignitaries such as Justice Jasbir Singh, Chairman of the National Green Court Oversight Committee, Sant Balbir Singh Seechewal, the spearhead of the anti-river pollution campaign in Punjab and Fellow Padma Shri, Professor (Dr.) Adarsh. Umendra Dutt, Founding Member and Executive Director, Kheti Virasat Mission, Prof. VK Garg, Dean, School of Environmental and Earth Sciences, Central Punjab University, Bathinda, Dr Ravindra Khaiwal, Department of Community Medicine and School of Public Health, PGIMER, Dr Sushil Mittal, Vice Chancellor, Sardar Beant Singh State University, Gurdaspur, Punjab and Er. Karunesh Garg, Member Secretary, Punjab Pollution Control Board, Er. Paramjit Singh, Senior Environmental Engineer and member of Punjab Pollution Control Board and National Green Tribunal.

The seminar was honored by the benevolent presence of Hon. Dr. Madhu Chitkara, Pro-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab and esteemed presence of Dr. Archana Mantri, Vice-Chancellor, Chitkara University, Punjab.

Judge Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel, President of the National Green Tribunal (NGT) emphasized the development of the Seechewal model of using wastewater for agriculture with increasing scale and innovation. Higher education institutions should come forward and further develop the model with maximum involvement of young people. Every effort should be made to stop mixing good water with waste water. Not only government, but citizens at all levels should contribute to environmental sustainability. Along with strict laws, this should be done as a moral responsibility to preserve nature.

This particular seminar saw the participation of worthy industry representatives. The seminar aimed to educate young people about the various laws passed by the National Green Court for Environmental Conservation.

It was also explained by the expert speakers that it is only human greed that is solely responsible for environmental degradation. During the speeches given by the dignitaries, the students were also informed about the reasons for soil erosion and the different crops that can be planted to help in the conservation of the environment. The students were able to bring back a lot of ideas and had a great session.

A book on the management of biomedical waste by the Punjab Pollution Control Board has also been published by Justice Adarsh ​​Kumar Goel and all other dignitaries.
