Burnham-On-Sea artist to launch new weekly art classes and workshops
A Burnham-On-Sea artist is set to launch a new series of weekly art classes and workshops in the town.
Louise Squire has recently returned to Somerset as part of a life change, giving her more time to develop her own works and be closer to her family.
His new art space, Willowherb Studios, will offer weekly art classes and one-off workshops for all skill levels. Classes start on September 12 and the first event will be a Christmas wreath making workshop.
Louise says, “My work is often colorful, vibrant and inspired by the natural world. I usually work in acrylic, watercolor or mixed media but not exclusively; enjoying printing, ceramics and drawing too.
“Over the years I’ve found that I take a creative approach to everything I do and find the process both satisfying and good for the soul.”
Originally from Devon and Somerset, she trained in art at Somerset College of Art and Technology and graduated in Leicester. She qualified as a teacher at the University of London and recently completed a postgraduate degree in Mental Health and Wellbeing in Education.
She adds, “My early career was in design, managing commercial interior projects around the world, with a move into teaching art in schools and becoming an assistant manager. in a prestigious preparatory school, with responsibility for safeguarding and welfare.”
“Currently, I offer teacher trainings and workshops for young people and their parents on mental health and well-being, but I have always led art classes and workshops for adults and young people outside from the school and enjoy being an influence on their growing confidence, skills and creativity.”
“My decision to switch to a more relaxed way of life has brought me back to Somerset this year, where, following in the footsteps of my father, Michael Squire, I am developing my own work and running art classes for adults in my beautiful new studio space.called Willowherb Studio.I am currently exhibiting during Somerset Arts Week,at RUH Bath.
The September course is an 11-week term with a one-semester break. Classes take place on Mondays from 2 to 4 p.m. or from 7 to 9 p.m. Costs are: half session: £90, full session: £150, trial class £15.
