AP CM YS Jagan attends Seminar on State Credit 2022-23
Amaravati: Andhra Pradesh YS Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy attended the State Credit Seminar on Wednesday and issued a State Policy Paper (SFP) 2022-23 prepared by the National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
During the seminar, the Chief Minister said that the role of NABARD and other banks is important in the economic and social development of the state by assisting various government initiatives, especially in strengthening the rural economy during the Covid. Despite the pandemic, the agriculture sector has achieved a growth rate of 4.16 percent, he said and added that the government aims to make Andhra Pradesh a leading state in agriculture.
Elaborating on the initiatives of the government which are being implemented for the welfare of the farmers, he said the government helps the farmers from seed to sale, through the RBKs and even compensates them for losses. The Chief Minister said that revolutionary steps have been taken in the field of agriculture by introducing e-culture at village level, agricultural labs in all rural constituencies, in addition to creating infrastructure such as godowns, cold stores, processing units at the level of parliamentary constituencies. Stating that all these initiatives would add value to crops, he urged NABARD to provide the required assistance in the agricultural sector.
Further, he said that the government is taking steps to strengthen banks and cooperative societies by putting in place transparent policies, where RBK banking correspondents will liaise with banks and societies. In addition to this, Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy emphasized the use of latest technologies in agriculture and said that drones will be introduced in RBKs and will be managed by imparting skills at the level of the town.
