Agri seminar focusing on tree growing on July 16

The Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore will organize here on July 16 Uzhave Thalai 4.0 which will focus on growing trees on farmland.
House Speaker C. Balasubramanian said in a press release that there is a general feeling among farmers that trees are a disturbance to agriculture. The one-day seminar will seek to clarify farmers’ doubts and encourage them to grow trees.
TN Balamohan, former Dean of the Horticultural College and Research Institute, Periyakulam, will speak on “perennial horticulture”. A. Balasubramanian, Professor and Head of Department of Forestry, Forest College and Research Institute, TNAU, will speak on “Timber Trees”. Professor and Director of the Center for Post Harvest Technology, TNAU, Z. John Kennedy, talks about fruit harvesting and marketing.
D. Saravanan, Director of Aranya Forest Sanctuary, Villupuram, will explain the importance of trees and how they are not a hindrance for agriculture. Organic farmer N. Mani Sundar will talk about the economic concepts of tree growing. Agriculture expert S. Raman will highlight the income benefits of growing trees on farmland.
