A seminar on India’s current and future energy scenario? Yes please say this Bhubaneswar based inst – Edexlive

The NM Institute of Engineering & Technology (NMIET) held a National Seminar at the college premises today, April 19. The theme of the seminar was India’s Present and Future Energy Scenario.
The keynote speaker for the seminar was Prof. (Er) PK Pradhan, Former Chief Engineer, Coal India, Government of India; Balimela Hydropower Station, Odisha Government and Orissa State Electricity Board, Bhubaneswar. Attending the occasion were Dr. Niranjan Mishra, Director, NMIET; Shilpa Parida, Director of Public Relations; Richa Parida, HR Director; Anwesh Dash, Chief Financial Officer; Professor Prajnadipta Sahoo, Head of the Electrical Engineering Department, along with faculty members and BTech and Diploma students from the college.
Er Pradhan spoke at length about the challenges facing India in the field of energy, the measures to be taken for wise use and the future of humanity in energy. His 1.5 hour session was a mix of theoretical information and industry information. The lecture was followed by a question-and-answer session with the audience.
Er Pradhan is also a former Dean of Interface at NMIET’s Institute of Industry. The program began by paying tribute to Dr. Ramesh Chandra Parida, President, NM Group of Institutions. The welcome speech was delivered by Dr. Mishra, Principal, NMIET and the vote of thanks was delivered by Prof. Radhagovinda Das from the Department of Electrical Engineering.
At the end of the session, NMIET officials congratulated Er Pradhan for his contribution to India’s energy sector.
Commenting on the event, Shilpa Parida, Director of Public Relations, said: “Climate change is a shared global challenge – and a lot of it is an energy challenge. Energy accounts for more than two-thirds of global greenhouse gas emissions. This means that energy must be at the heart of any solution. It is imperative that students of technical institutes delve into the roots of this subject and try to bring about a change in their approach and environment.
